From June 2020 to March 2024, I worked as the Marketing and Creative Director at Surfside Kids Pediatric Dentistry, a doctor-and-veteran-owned business with three offices located in Coastal Georgia. With varying responsibilities from marketing and advertising campaigns, community partnerships, organizing outreach programs and continuing education seminars, to overseeing the architectural development and thematic design of Surfside's newest, state-of-the-art office in Brunswick, Georgia, I have learned that, in every area of discipline, no great thing is accomplished without optimism, dedication, and hard work.
I am responsible for managing the projects below that will provide you with an understanding of Surfside's branding and team-oriented work environment, as an award-winning, game-changing practice in the dental community.
New Office in Brunswick, Georgia
From the architectural development with Larry L. Bryson Artitect, P.C. to breaking ground and building with Overholt Construction, Inc., and finally, designing the thematic elements in collaboration with Worlds of Wow, I represented Surfside in every aspect of this project for over three years. Selecting every detail from paint, flooring, granite, dental equipment, and interior design, I consider this one of my greatest professional accomplishments to date.
Surfside Kids 1972 VW Bus
Completed in 2020, in collaboration with my "go-to" colleague and former classmate from Savannah College of Art and Design, Carlos Ginatta and I designed the graphics for Surfside’s VW bus, a unique promotion for on-the-go advertisement. It took 4 months from the start of concept to completing the vinyl wrap with Southern Sun Grafix, with many late night phone calls scrutinizing over every detail and unexpected meetings between the design and production teams. Surfside quickly saw their return on investment, with a continuing increase in sales at events to this day.
As a veteran-owned pediatric dentistry, Surfside is committed to serving military families. Celebrating Month of the Military Child every April with on-base events, Surfside is the first ever headline sponsor at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield military bases, with their now-annual event, Surf Into Summer with Surfside Kids. I was responsible for negotiating these contracts and organizing our participation in events held by the MWR department on base. In addition, I have designed all of Surfside's promotional products, from beach balls, frisbees, and hang loose "shaka" foam hands to tooth-shaped mints, munch-it clips, and color-changing cups.

In collaboration with Carlos Ginatta, principle and creative director at Design Discovery, LLC., I created the following concepts for Surfside's billboards and directed Carlos in executing the designs:

Hinesville Monument Sign
In collaboration with Doug Bean Signs, we designed a monument sign for our Hinesville office. Prior to the conceptual phase, I had to work with the City of Hinesville's Zoning and Inspections departments, and present before city council to get a permit of approval of the sign.
Children's Dental Health Month
From the time I started working at Surfside in June 2020, I've single-handedly grown our Children's Dental Health Month Outreach Program from 4,000 students to now over 13,000 students from 32 schools within our three counties and surrounding areas within coastal Georgia. I created the presentation and taught to class sizes ranging from 50-800 students. Each year, every student receives a Surfside Kids toothbrush, in addition to a dental facts card.
Under the tutelage of Angela Beasley of Angela Beasley's Puppet People located in Savannah, Georgia, I created puppets of Surfside's mascot, Smiles the Sea Turtle, and his best friend, Dolly Dolphin. Used for our online dental health program for Children's Dental Health Month during COVID, these puppets helped to eliminate fears associated with the dentist and taught about the importance of dental health with their very own visit to Surfside! Below you will find two dental health videos, which I wrote and directed using Smiles and Dolly as the stars of the show!

In July 2021, Surfside Kids Pediatric Dentistry, in partnership with Light of Hope Learning Center, hosted their first annual Autism Walk in support of Autism Speaks, the largest non-profit, autism research organization in the United States, to raise funds and awareness of autism spectrum disorders. With twelve raffle donations from local businesses, as well as activities, such as karate, potato sack races, water balloons, and even a special visit from Captain America, everyone had a fun-filled day of walking the Neptune Park grounds on St. Simons Island, while celebrating inclusivity with our special needs patients, family, and friends!
Surfside Kids had 124 registrants and raised $3,936.90
